AI Caddie ("we", "our", or "the app") is a golf caddie assistant for iPhone and Apple Watch built by Braden Barrett. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
The following data is stored locally on your device using SQLite and never uploaded to our servers:
AI Caddie requests your device's GPS location while the app is in use. Location is used solely to calculate distances to greens, hazards, and targets during a round. Your precise coordinates are sent to our secure backend proxy (hosted on Vercel) only to fetch course GPS layout data. We do not store or log your location on our servers.
When you use the voice input feature, audio is processed on-device by iOS Speech Recognition (Apple's framework). The resulting text transcript — never the raw audio — is sent to our backend proxy to generate an AI caddie recommendation. We do not store transcripts or audio recordings.
Caddie recommendations are generated by Anthropic's Claude AI via our backend proxy. When you request a recommendation, the following context is sent:
This data is transmitted to Anthropic's API and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not retain the content of individual recommendation requests.
Premium subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat and processed through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card information. RevenueCat may collect a device-level purchase receipt to verify subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
Course GPS layouts are fetched from our backend proxy and cached on your device. The proxy queries third-party course databases on your behalf. No personal information is included in those requests.
AI Caddie does not use any third-party analytics SDKs (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude). We do not track your behaviour across apps or websites, and we do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
We share data only with the following parties, and only as described above:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other parties.
All personal data (scores, clubs, settings) lives exclusively on your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. Our proxy servers do not retain request payloads after serving a response.
AI Caddie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
